About us:

Cornwall Hospice Care is a 24/7 Cornish healthcare charity that provides end of life support for people with terminal illnesses.  Our clinical staff and volunteers care for patients and their families, carers and friends at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, through our Community Services and where appropriate, in people’s own homes and local care homes.

The Role

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding role offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality specialist palliative care and support the holistic approach..

You will work alongside consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and volunteers to provide compassionate, expert care to patients and support to families at some of the most important moments of their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the medical management of hospice inpatients to deliver specialist palliative care
  • Undertake a comprehensive holistic assessment on admission
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning
  • Ensure timely accurate completion of referral to local medical examiner service and associated paperwork
  • Support patients, families, and carers with sensitive communication and decision-making
  • Contribute to Cornwall Hospice Educational Programmes
  • Participate in on-call rota for both hospices

About You

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Experience in Palliative Medicine or related specialties (e.g. oncology, geriatrics, general medicine)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centred approach to care
  • Commitment to professional development and hospice values
